Terms of service

These terms govern your use of Lumo's website design, hosting, and ongoing support services (the "Services"). By signing up, you agree to these terms. Please read them carefully.
1. Who we are
Lumo (operating at lumoweb.ca) is a Canadian web design and hosting service based in Toronto, Ontario. References to "we," "us," or "our" mean Lumo. References to "you" or "your" mean the business owner or authorized representative who signs up for our Services.
2. What we provide
We offer done-for-you websites across three service tiers (Starter, Professional, Business). Each engagement includes:
- Customization of an industry template to reflect your brand, content, and business needs
- Hosting, SSL certificate, and continuous monitoring
- A client portal with a built-in AI assistant for ongoing updates
- Monthly support based on your selected tier

3. Setup fees and monthly support
Our pricing has two components:
- One-time setup fee — payable upon signup, covers design customization, content setup, and launch
- Monthly support fee — payable in advance each month, covers hosting, monitoring, ongoing updates, and portal access
All prices are in Canadian dollars (CAD) unless otherwise stated. Applicable taxes (GST/HST) are added at checkout.
4. Delivery timeline
We target website delivery within 1–3 weeks from receipt of your content and brand materials, depending on complexity. Delays caused by late content submission, extended revision cycles, or third-party service outages are not our responsibility. We will communicate status updates throughout the process.
5. Content ownership
You retain ownership of all content you provide (text, images, branding). Lumo retains ownership of underlying template code, design systems, and platform infrastructure. You receive a non-exclusive, perpetual licence to use the customized site for your business as long as your monthly support is active.
If you cancel service, you may export your content and we will cooperate with a reasonable migration request.
6. Cancellation and refunds
You may cancel monthly support at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period — no partial refunds on monthly fees. Setup fees are refundable within 14 days of signup if we have not yet delivered your initial design preview.
We may cancel service for non-payment, abuse of the Services, or violation of these terms, with notice where practicable.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to use Lumo services to:
- Host illegal content or content that violates third-party rights
- Send spam or operate a phishing site
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, resell, or sublicense our platform
- Overload our infrastructure with automated traffic
8. Third-party services
Lumo integrates with third-party services (Netlify for hosting, Stripe for payments, ImprovMX for email, etc.). Your use of those services is governed by their respective terms. We are not responsible for outages or changes originating with third parties, though we will do our best to mitigate impact.
9. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Lumo's total liability for any claim arising out of these terms or the Services is limited to the total fees you have paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages such as lost profits, lost data, or business interruption.
10. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold Lumo harmless from claims arising out of content you provide (such as copyright or trademark disputes) or your use of the Services in violation of these terms.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of Ontario.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via email or a notice on our site. Your continued use of the Services after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.
